  • Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
  • Start: Thu, 06 Feb 2025 12:00:00 +0000
  • Source:
  • Region:
  • Note: Bright filament eruption to the NW in SOHO LASCO C2/C3 and STEREO COR2A. The source is a filament eruption occurring on/beyond the NW limb as viewed from SDO AIA and GOES SUVI, first seen on the NW limb as viewed from STEREO A EUVI 304 at 2025-02-06T10:15Z, confirmed to be separate from the M7.6 flare (AR 13981) that occurred on the earth-facing disk at this same time. Also observed starting around 2025-02-06T10:36Z in SDO AIA 304/GOES SUVI 304, launching more explosively around 2025-02-06T11:32Z. Also seen well as the filament ejecta and field line movement in SDO AIA 171/193.

  • Region:
  • Note: CME seen to the SE fully in SOHO LASCO C2/C3, and to the S/SW potentially as a partial halo in STEREO COR2A after 2025-02-06T05:09Z, with the CME front already at the edge of its FOV when its beacon data downlink resumes. Due to this data gap timing in STEREO COR2A, the CME is observed in white light imagery but unresolvable in running difference imagery. Observed as a rapid snapping open and dimming of field lines over the SE limb centered ~S28, best observed in SDO AIA 171/193 around 2025-02-06T02:31Z and GOES SUVI 284 around 2025-02-06T02:34Z. Also observed in SDO AIA 304/GOES SUVI 304 as some filament ejecta. The far-sided nature of this CME is also corroborated via fitting in swpc_cat and the lack of an on-disk signature accompanying the field line movement.

  • Source:
  • Region:
  • Note: Narrow CME seen to the southeast in SOHO LASCO C2 imagery, brightly in running difference imagery and faintly in white light imagery. Likely associated with far-sided eruptive activity as evidenced by moving magnetic field lines seen off the southeast limb best in GOES SUVI 284, but as well in SDO AIA 171.

  • Region:
  • Note: Relatively slow, loop CME seen to the east-northeast in SOHO LASCO C2 imagery, brightly in running difference imagery and faintly in white light imagery. There are few if any sources on the Earth-facing disk or off of the east/northeast limb to suggest that this CME is associated with eruptive activity on the Earth-facing limb, therefore, it likely originates from the far-side of the solar disk.

  • Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
  • Start: Wed, 05 Feb 2025 17:12:00 +0000
  • Source:
  • Region:
  • Note: Minor, narrow CME seen to the southeast in SOHO C2 and presumably to the south in STEREO A COR2A, seemingly associated with a far-sided minor filament eruption seen around 18:00Z to the southeast in GOES SUVI 304 and SDO AIA 304. Triangulation suggests the CME originates from near a longitude of -145 degrees.

  • Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
  • Start: Wed, 05 Feb 2025 11:00:00 +0000
  • Source: S10E90
  • Region:
  • Note: Faint puff-like CME seen to the east-northeast in SOHO LASCO C2 coronagraph imagery and not visible in STEREO A COR2 imagery except for one frame. Associated with a spray/prominence eruption taking place off the eastern limb seen in GOES SUVI 284 with strong northern/northeastern deflection. The CME is characterized by a very slow moving bulk and fainter shock-like feature which accelerates outward ahead of the bulk.
